How to impose Hindi language in India?
Three-language formula is a big failure in India. I think the main objective of three-language formula is to impose Hindi language across all states in India. Many languages in India have had its own history and strong literature which are linked deeply with their socio-cultural aspects. Any instigation against these aspects is both unconstitutional and also man-made disaster. Therefore, the three-language formula is failed greatly.
So, how India can impose Hindi language in India? Well. Not all Indians are looking to impose Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states. Let's change the attitude of imposing Hindi. Why can't we popularise Hindi instead of imposing it?
Before that, we should analyse the effects of making all Indians speaking Hindi despite the vast majority (say 55-60%) of other 22 scheduled language speaking community living in India. Why is Hindi wants to dominate other language is because it is the only widely spoken language in India. The real benefit is everybody in India able to speak one particular language. Hindi may became the national language of India. Hindi will become mandatory language of India and will replace English for administrative purposes. The other regional languages of India will become less important and then will disappear in longer run. Slowly, India lose multi-cultural and multi-linguistic features. India might unified into one language, one culture, one tax, and one system. What about religion? Most believes religion is nothing to do with language. I believe many religion is closely linked with languages such as Urdu, Sanskrit, etc., What about economic benefits? There will not be any impact to grow upward economically because of chances of increasing non-democratic actions of India. Politically, it might brought many concerns such as unconstitutional implementation, non-democratic extremism, destruction of multicultural aspects, etc.,
In other words, those who speak Hindi currently will benefit more because they can easily travel and enjoy all facilities across all parts of India. Those who are non-Hindi speakers will lose their language and culture gradually but able to travel and enjoy all facilities across all parts of India. Some states might asks for separation of their state from India because of imposition of Hindi language. Political instability will cause more problem for India's growth as it is already suffering lot in typical democratic structure. Police and military actions might be used to curb the violent incidents in some parts of India. After huge loss, it might end up with one language, one culture policy.
Why people are against Hindi is because they think they do not require Hindi as it is not beneficial. All studies are available in English. All researches are made in English. To work, live and travel, English is enough. What makes Hindi important for non-Hindi speakers? May be to watch Bollywood movies, interact with Hindi speakers in India and listen to Prime ministers' speech. But, what makes English important for both Hindi and non-Hindi speakers is a different story. English is must to work in most national and international company. English is beneficial to express your views, ideas and explore it globally. English is useful to read many new things. English is used for study, grow, and for everything in this world. Are we really need to popularise Hindi to remove English as official language from India? Are we going to study science, maths and biology in Hindi? If all Indians is going to study science, maths and biology in English, then everybody is able to speak one language that is English which suggests greatly why Hindi is not useful much.
Some believe that they do not actually impose Hindi but make India to communicate easily. They said they do not trying to destroy other language and culture in India. We have thousands of examples of dying language and culture. The recent one is Catalan in Spain. So, no one can guarantee the protection of other language and culture after Hindi become only official language in India.
If Hindi is pride of India, what about Sanskrit, Arabia, Urdu for Hindi speaking Hindus and Muslims. India is diverse nation. Everyone has their own pride, and beliefs. Each should respect each other. We have to do everything constitutionally, and democratically. So, how to impose Hindi language in India?
If no ideas how to impose Hindi in India, I will suggest some few things to do it constitutionally and democratically.
Firstly, one should not forcefully impose Hindi on all states particularly after been given linguistic rights. One can do anything to impose Hindi in non-democratic manner if they want. I do not know the serious of its effects. But democratically, the union government has to validate all languages and encourage all communities in India. The next step is to lift the three-language formula from all states. Indian union government has to then make all 22 scheduled languages as official languages of India. Central administration is then have to set up a language centre for each languages to translate all its official works and published in internet. State government has to decide which language is to use for their administration that is include all languages spoken by atleast of 10000 people. Then the Indian government can impose on foreigners, who wants to work in India, to learn any one of the official language of India to grant work visa.
Secondly, Hindi has to advance to next level. They have to write more books in all subjects such as modern science, maths, etc., Create all opportunities to easily learn all subjects in Hindi. Promote by developing easy learning methodologies for non-Hindi speakers and inspire them. Provide free and virtual universities for learning Hindi. Bollywood is already popular and so make Hindi useful for all people globally. If Hindi is useful for one's growth, then they learn Hindi. Advancing Hindi language is imperative.
More useful means more Hindi speakers. And we're done.
